The Deputy Manager – Import & Procurement is responsible for managing and streamlining the organization’s import activities and procurement operations. This role involves supplier management, cost optimization, compliance with import/export regulations, and ensuring timely availability of materials and goods to support smooth business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Import Management

Manage the complete import cycle including indenting, LC opening, shipping documents, customs clearance, and delivery.

Ensure compliance with all import/export regulations, government policies, and documentation requirements.

Coordinate with freight forwarders, clearing agents, and shipping lines for smooth and timely cargo clearance.

Monitor shipment schedules, track consignments, and resolve logistics issues.

Optimize duties, tariffs, and taxes while ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
Procurement Management

Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with local and international suppliers to ensure best pricing, quality, and lead times.

Develop procurement strategies to reduce costs without compromising quality and timelines.

Prepare purchase orders, contracts, and agreements in line with company policies.

Maintain vendor relationships and monitor supplier performance through KPIs.

Conduct market research to identify new suppliers, products, and cost-saving opportunities.
Financial & Reporting

Prepare cost analysis, landed cost sheets, and procurement reports for management.

Work closely with finance for supplier payments, LC settlements, and duty/tax reconciliations.

Ensure budget adherence and cost control in all procurement and import activities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Collaborate with supply chain, production, and warehouse teams to align procurement with operational requirements.

Liaise with regulatory bodies, inspection agencies, and internal audit teams for compliance.

Support management in strategic sourcing and vendor development initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field. (MBA preferred)

5–8 years of relevant experience in imports, logistics, and procurement (preferably in manufacturing/trading sector).

Strong knowledge of import/export laws, customs regulations, and banking procedures (LC, TT, etc.).

Excellent negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, and procurement software.
